Today, Domaine Les Teyssonnières embodies a family revival in the heart of Gigondas, while drawing on a winemaking heritage dating back almost two centuries. Taken over and developed by Franck Alexandre, grandson of the founder of the Gigondas cooperative winery, the estate has asserted its independence by creating its own identity, faithful to its terroir and history.
Located on sandy safres soils, shaped by time and dug by the “taissouns” — the badgers that gave the neighborhood its name — the vineyard benefits from a soil of great finesse, which is naturally reflected in the wines, renowned for their delicate tannins from old vines. Today, the estate is centered around the family home, nestled in the heart of approximately 15 hectares, mainly located in the Gigondas appellation, which still accounts for more than 80% of production.
The estate currently offers four iconic vintages: • La Teyssonnière Traditionnelle, a blend of three grape varieties that reflects the classic, elegant identity of the terroir; • La cuvée Alexandre, a true tribute to the history and ampelographic diversity of the estate, bringing together thirteen ancient grape varieties grown on the property; • The 100% Grenache cuvée, a single-varietal wine that best expresses the depth of sandy soil on Grenache Noir; • A Gigondas Blanc cuvée, a blend of Clairette Blanche and Grenache Gris
Committed to sustainable viticulture and certified HVE (High Environmental Value), Domaine Les Teyssonnières is now run by Franck Alexandre, accompanied by the new generation, with the arrival of Aurélien Alexandre, oenologist, and the involvement of Héloïse Alexandre in commercial development. Together, they strive to combine respect for the terroir, modernity, and tradition in order to promote the estate’s wines in France and internationally, while remaining deeply attached to the soul of Gigondas.
