Since 1806

The Provençal farmhouse of Domaine du Grapillon d’Or, nestled at the foot of the famous Dentelles de Montmirail, was built in 1806, although the Chauvet family has been present in Gigondas, in the heart of Provence, since 1630. From that time on, many improvements were made by successive generations.

The Domaine embodies an authentic and beautiful family story.

Created in 1774 and later expanded and modified in 1806 to build a stable for four horses, the estate has remained in the hands of the Chauvet family up to the present day.

Over the years and through successive generations, numerous improvements have been carried out, both in the vineyard and on the estate. My grandfather was a pioneer when he planted, in 1966, one of the first two Syrah parcels in Gigondas, and my father, Bernard, continued by constantly maintaining and renovating the vineyard, where parcels of Grenache planted in 1919 and 1929 are still in production and meticulously cared for.

I had the privilege of discovering and learning the craft with my grandfather, Jean, and my father, Bernard. When I decided to join them at the estate, sales were already established with a single bottle of Gigondas. I continued the work to develop sales further, and today we offer six different cuvées for tasting. More recently, with the help of two talented architects from Gigondas, we embarked in 2013 on creating a new tasting area that is more functional, more modern, and more welcoming.

Since 1893, when the Chauvet family won its first gold medal at the Concours Général Agricole in Paris, the wines produced at the estate have been regularly awarded.

Our vineyard, 14 hectares of Gigondas located mainly on the hillsides, is composed primarily of Grenache and Syrah. The property also includes 2.60 hectares of Vacqueyras and 3.3 hectares of Vin de Pays, planted with Merlot and Caladoc, which we vinify exclusively as red wines.

In 2020, the estate obtained HVE certification, and all our wines are vegan and come from a selection of small parcels that give rise to wines of great concentration, suitable for long aging.
