Gigondas La Gille et Domaine des Tourelles (since 2008)

A former Monastry in the XVIIth century, Domaine des Tourelles covers 9 hectares and is mainly planted in Grenache. Located in the heart of the historical centre of the village, the terraced vineyard lies on clay and sandy soils. Facing north north-west, the vines are ideally orientated for the appellation of Gigondas. The average age of the vines is 45 years old and many of them are situated in a Clos that lies in front of the property.

Our Gigondas La Gille is a blend of 80% of Grenache from dominantly sandy soil plots and 20% of Syrah. The vinification is traditional: light crushing and long maceration for 15 to 20 days. The ageing takes place in oak foudres for 12 to 15 months.

Tasting notes :
The colour is a deep ruby with tints of purple
The nose is rich with cherry, thyme and leather.
The mouth is full bodied, round and has well balanced firm tannins. It is a typical expression of Gigondas terroir with a lot of finesse. This wine can be kept between 6 and 10 years.
